The month of September in Puerto Vallarta is always the same. The retired folks close their houses and head for cooler parts. The tourist population is at its lowest ebb and………... the fishing is fantastic! There are lots of big game but few anglers to catch them. It seems that everyone who is employed in tourism has something to sell and great bargains can be found for the few who anticipated this slow month. September is referred to in Spanish as Septihambre or Hungry September and year after year, when tourism is at its best, we forget how slow this month truly is. |
The captains and mates in the marina are frustrated knowing that the big game is available yet they are sitting at the dock remembering that they were out almost everyday in March when a good sized bait fish was cause for celebration. A few owners use this month to do a full maintenance on their boats, thus avoiding the agony of seeing their investment gather dust. |
But the charters that went out in September did extremely well. Check out this beautiful Marlin caught on the ANTICIPATION. |

And this is another beauty taken on the STRIKE ONE. |

October is starting off with a BANG! Lots of Marlin! Don't miss next month's report to see some spectacular fish. Ned Ludlow and Phil are going for another overnighter and Ned is after a Marlin. This is going to be the month! |
Phil's choice of midi sound files this month may be the worst ever but he wanted to keep in the 'Navy' theme for his new buddies from the USS McClusky. We love these sea shanties. So, you can 'Name that Tune' as usual or just turn off your speakers. |

If you are still planning your vacation in Puerto Vallarta, be sure to check out Casa Caballito in Bucerias. It is an ideal vacation rental, especially if you love fishing! |
